Yvonne Okwara has a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

 

Okwara worked over a broad spectrum in television and radio conducting interviews, hosting talk shows and anchoring news. This has placed her at the centre of some of Kenya’s and the region’s most historic moments - she hosted the national discussion on civic education in Kenya’s constitution; the historic 2013 elections; the Supreme Court Election Petition; and the inauguration of Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta.

 

She currently works for Kenya Television Network (KTN) as a Senior Anchor and Content Producer. In addition, she heads the team of news anchors at the station. Every Sunday night, she hosts a talk show, Checkpoint, where she moderates analysts in a no-holds barred assessment of the week’s biggest stories.

 

Okwara has interviewed several state leaders. She has also moderated several regional and international meetings including the Conference of African Finance Ministers in Nigeria, March 2014 and the Conference of African Ministers on Africa’s Agenda 2063 in Ethiopia in April 2015.
